I'm Jane, and I built Sewing Room PA. People have rightly asked me hard questions about where their information goes, so this page answers them as plainly as I can. If anything here isn't clear, email me and I'll explain.
How the reading works. SRPA uses an AI model, Anthropic's Claude, to read your pattern pictures and pages. It does the reading only, and it doesn't design, draw or create anything. Your name and email are never sent with the pictures.
Paper patterns. When you scan a pattern envelope (in Notes or Google Drive), the AI reads the printed details and SRPA fills in your pattern card. The front and back pictures are kept on your card.
PDF patterns. Your PDF file never leaves your device. SRPA opens it in your browser and never uploads or keeps it. SRPA doesn't read your whole pattern. It reads just the cover and up to three information pages, such as sizes, notions and suggested fabrics, plus a picture of the fabric page if you choose Fabric Amounts. You see exactly which pages will be read, and can change them, before anything is sent. The step-by-step sewing instructions and your pattern pieces, A0 and projector files aren't read or sent anywhere. SRPA keeps a small picture of the cover and of the fabric page on your pattern card, along with the details it read and the file name.
Adding pages later. If you add pages to a PDF pattern card, a picture of each page you tick is read, and only the fabric page's picture is kept.
SRPA uses a small number of established companies, and each one gets only what it needs to do its job.

| Database backups | 7 days |
| SRPA's scan records: the details the AI read and whether each scan worked, so I can fix misreads. No images. | 90 days |
| SRPA's improvement records: PDF file names and page choices, and which fields people corrected after a scan (the field name only, not what was typed) | 12 months |
| Server and database logs | 7 days |
| Sign-in code emails (Resend) | 30 days |
| Payment records (Stripe) | As long as the law requires for tax and accounting |

Pattern designers work hard on their patterns, and SRPA is built to respect that.
Anthropic's terms for business customers say it does not use what's sent to train its AI models. I've checked SRPA's settings: feedback to Anthropic is switched off, and SRPA isn't part of any program that shares data for training. If that ever changes, I'll tell you first.
If there's a data breach that's notifiable under Australia's Notifiable Data Breaches scheme, I'll tell the people affected and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC), and explain what happened and what I'm doing about it.
Companies change their terms, and technology changes too. I check the terms of the companies above, and I'll update this page when something changes. If a change affects your information in a meaningful way, I'll tell you by email before it applies to you wherever I can. If a company stops meeting the standards on this page, I'll look for a replacement.
You can delete any pattern, photo or measurement in the App at any time. To delete your whole account, go to Settings and choose Delete account, or email hello@sewingroompa.com and I'll do it for you.
Your account and photos are deleted straight away. SRPA's own copies, including backups and logs, are gone within 7 days. Everything held by the companies above is gone within 30 days. The only exception is payment records, which the law requires me and Stripe to keep for tax.
